Energy efficiency target: 20 % in 20 years
Our energy savings target for 2029 is “20 % in 20 years”! We want to build on the success of our 2024 target and continue to work on our energy efficiency.
For the period from 2010 to 2024, we had set ourselves the target of increasing our energy efficiency by 15 %. Various successful measures have been developed for this purpose, which we will discuss in more detail in a follow-up article. Now it’s time to look to the future and set ourselves a new goal: 20 % more energy efficiency in 20 years! This leaves us with a saving of one percentage point per year.
A 20 % increase in efficiency means that we will reduce our annual energy consumption by 31 million kWh by 2029 through savings projects and investments. This reduction corresponds to the annual consumption of 1,900 households.
In terms of climate protection, the 20% target means a reduction in our annual greenhouse gas emissions of the equivalent of 7,500 tonnes of CO2.
Even if it becomes more and more difficult to find potential savings over time, we are happy to take on this challenge. Because: Energy management is a focal topic for IREKS and our energy management team of 11 works continuously to improve our energy efficiency and reduce our energy consumption.
