IREKS IQ Centre

At IREKS, IQ stands for innovation and quality! In concrete terms, this means: more than 250 employees worldwide do research on raw material trends, develop new products and ensure the highest quality in every production stage.

At IREKS, quality is being lived from the seed to the finished baked goods. That is why we accompany the entire process of formation and manufacture of our products with close-meshed analyses, quality checks and baking tests.

Driven by our aspiration to innovation, we always look for new ways to improve and develop products that move our customers forward. To this end, we have developed a concept which is based on our quality policy and supported by five pillars: IREKS IQ.

In our globally interconnected IQ centres, the five pillars of our IREKS IQ concept are put into practice by experts day by day. Research and development is therefore not only carried out at our headquarters in Kulmbach.

What the individual pillars actually entail is explained below.

 

Research

Scientists from nine disciplines such as food technology, natural products and drug chemistry or biology conduct research in connection with innovative product solutions for our customers every day. Thanks to the constant exchange with our experts worldwide, we recognise trends early on. For example, we test about 400 new raw materials every year. In addition, cooperations with suppliers and research institutions enrich our research network.

Development

At the company headquarters in Kulmbach alone, we bake a rough 8,000 development variations every year. From our best ideas, we create a large number of new products and product revisions. These are examined by means of extensive product-specific analysis methods. Moreover, more than 30 trained employees evaluate raw materials and products within the framework of a sensory panel with regard to appearance, texture, aroma and taste.

Food law

In addition to analytical safety, we provide our customers support in the "jungle" of laws and regulations. We regularly check the legal framework and prepare country-specific declaration information as well as product certificates. Furthermore, we are happy to assist our customers with individual enquiries regarding our products.

Quality assurance

Every raw material, every processing stage and every finished production batch is subject to the most sensitive quality controls at IREKS. In addition to more than 370,000 approval analyses, about 28,000 baking tests per year ensure an optimum product quality. Our ultra trace analysis laboratory is unique in the industry. It enables us, for example, to check all raw materials for the smallest residues of heavy metals and pesticides. We are thus able to detect down to 1 gram in 1,000 tons of the raw material.

Quality management

The main goals of our commitment are the satisfaction of our customers and their trust in the safety of our products. That is why we constantly put our processes to the test. A team of over 20 in-company auditors ensures continuous improvement. In this way, we have comprehensively expanded our allergen management through coordination with suppliers, the production department and process development. This has further reduced the risk of cross-contamination. We check the success of these measures with the aid of several thousand allergen tests per year in our in-house trace analysis laboratory.
