In many countries of the world, carnival plays a large and, above all, colourful role. In Germany and other German-speaking countries, berliners are the typical piece of baked goods for this occasion – and we have them dressed up in the shrillest colours. By the way, there is a similarly shrill legend that explains the origin of berliners: During an argument, a woman is said to have thrown a lump of dough at her husband, but it landed in a pot of hot fat and – ta-taa – the berliner was born. Perhaps a nice anecdote to tell customers while bagging. And to go with it? Why not give your berliners an extravagant topping or serve them standing upright with a topping of cream and fruit? The sky is the limit!
